The Professional Shiatsu School was created with the aim of training shiatsu and sotai professional practitioners. With this aim in mind, we follow the core curriculum of Japanese shiatsu schools, and our training includes working on a table as well as on the futon, and a clinical year in which students treat real patients under the teacher's supervision.

We usually offer the first year of two years and the fast-track programme in which you can obtain the Professional Certificate in one year. Apart from the academic content of the course students are required to complete a minimum of practice hours. We provide a lot of opportunities to complete those hours in our student clinics and volunteering days.
The professional ceritficate allows you to get insurance and work professionally for one year while you complete your clinical year and work towards the Postgraduate Diploma (level 4), where students treat real patients under the teacher's supervision.
During the clinical year, you will need to take part in a placement. You can find your own or we can help you find one in an NHS hospital where you may have the chance to work towards the Postgraduate Diploma in Oncological & Palliative Care Shiatsu.
All our professional courses include training in the treatment of specific conditions such as pregnancy shiatsu, shiatsu for back pain, (click to see video) as well as training in sotai ho (click to see more information on how sotai exercises can enhance our shiatsu treatments) Sotai is studied at a very advanced level, so you won't need to do any extra courses.
